Describe the possible scenarios for Deals for customers

Here are several possible scenarios for Customers:

BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE

(Deal : Buy SK1 Get SK1 Free)

  • Step 1: Customer put 1 quantity of SK1 in shopping cart. The price of SK1 will be regular price only.
  • Step 2: Customer put another SK1 or changes quantity to 2 of existing item in shopping cart. Since the deal is applicable now, customer can see two separate line items in shopping cart. One with regular price and another with discounted price.
  • Step 3: At this point customer can change the quantity of line items. However, the system will adjust the quantity of regular item and discounted item according to the deal conditions.

In the above example, let's assume that customer changes the quantity of free item to 4 and keep the quantity of regular item at 1 only. When customer press 'Update' or 'Check Out' button, system will adjust the quantity of regular item to 3 and Free item to 2. The explanation is as mentioned below:

Total Quantity for SK1 : 4 + 1 = 5

Deal : Buy 1 Get 1 Free.

Hence, Qualified quantity at discounted price is 2. Quantity at regular price is 3.

Rule: If there are two line items for same SKU, where one is at regular price and another is at discounted price due to deal, customer can not remove the line item with regular price. However customer can remove the line item with discounted price.

BUY ONE, GET ANOTHER FREE

(Deal : Buy SK2 Get SK1 Free)

  • Step 1: Customer put 1 quantity of SK1 in shopping cart. The price of SK1 will be regular price only.
  • Step 2: Customer put SK2 in shopping cart. Since the deal is applicable now, customer can see SK1 at discounted price.
  • Step 3: At this point customer can change the quantity of line items. However, the system will adjust the quantity of discounted item and may add or delete the line item based on deal condition.

If customer change the quantity of SK2, it will not have any effect on SK1. But if the customer changes the quantity of SK1 from 1 to 5, system will adjust the quantity of SK1 to 1 at discounted price and add new line item for SK1 with quantity 4 at regular price.

Now, if customer changes the quantity of SK2 from 1 to 3, system will again adjust the quantity of SK1 from 1 to 3 at discounted price and from 4 to 2 at regular price.

Again if customer changes the quantity of SK2 to 5, the system will again adjust the quantity of SK1 from 3 to 5 at discounted price and remove the line item of SK1 at regular price as all 5 items are qualified for discount.

BUY THIS AMOUNT, GET SKU FREE

(Deal : Buy $1000 Get SK1 Free)

  • Step 1: Customer put 1 quantity of SK1 in shopping cart and subtotal of shopping cart is less than $1000. The price of SK1 will be regular price only.
  • Step 2: If subtotal of the shopping cart reaches to $1000, deal condition is satisfied. Since the deal is applicable now, customer can see SK1 at discounted price.
  • Step 3: At this point customer can change the quantity of line items. However, the system will adjust the quantity of discounted item and may add or delete the line item based on deal condition.

If customer changes the quantity of SK1 from 1 to 5, system will adjust the quantity of SK1 to 1 at discounted price and add new line item for SK1 with quantity 4 at regular price.

Now, if customer buy more items and subtotal changes from $1000 to $2000, system will again adjust the quantity of SK1 from 1 to 2 at discounted price and from 4 to 3 at regular price.

Again if customer removes some items and subtotal is changed to $990, the system will again adjust the quantity of SK1 from 3 to 5 at regular price and remove the line item of SK1 at discounted price as all no item is qualified for discount.
